Grand Tournalin

difficulty: media-difficile - EE duration: 3h 40m starting altitude: 2600 mt arrival altitude: 3380 mt

It can be reached by Piccolo Tournalin bypassing the summit on the left and down until you meet the normal route of the slope of Chamois.

During the tour you can see the remains of a historic camp, dedicated to J. A. Carrel, used by the guides of Ayas and Valtournenche. At the summit of the Grand Tournalin also bring some character paths mountaineering, such as the spectacular and exposed ridge East, the North edge, the south wall, the easy ridge connecting the two peaks, or Pass Tournalin.

Furthermore, the Grand Tournalin has two peaks: the north 3379 m and the south 3370 m, about 60 m apart, connected by a thin ridge and separated by a sharp notch.  Thanks to extensive panorama of  Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn and the high mountains of the Aosta Valley, the south peak is frequently climbed.

The first ascension dates back to 1850 and was made by Abbot Amé Gorret and companions.
